We designed and created the animated sections for this documentary, as well as titles, credits, and lower thirds. Inspired by Celia’s (the film’s protagonist) illustrations, we lent a childlike look and feel to balance out the film’s serious subject matter.
Sequencing Hope examines the high stakes of altering genes, the promise it holds for treating other diseases, and explores just how far a family will go to save their child’s life. In it, we follow the intimate and often gut-wrenching journey of an Alabama family grappling with the unimaginable risks and potential rewards of new frontiers in medicine as their toddler becomes the first patient in the US to receive an experimental gene therapy treatment for a rare disease.
Directors Lindsey Seavert and Maribeth Romslo premiered Sequencing Hope at the 2024 MSPIFF.
